Ladies opt for employment
( Malaya, 2007 / 07 / 26 )
Most young women want to run a business but lack of exposure is dampening that interest, a survey on students of four schools for women showed. The GE Money Bank and Let’s Go Foundation survey of 126 college students showed 88 percent intend to start their own business in the future. However, 78 percent of the students surveyed had no formal education on management or entrepreneurship. The survey also showed that despite the students’ big interest to start up a business, majority still want to be employees. Sixty four percent of the respondents said they prefer to be employed in a private corporation or a non-profit organization after graduation. The balance of 31.75 percent, said they want to be self-employed or owners of their business.
